The Jeremy Sylvester-trained Dead Reckoning was rewarded for its consistency with a win at Sunday’s Scone Showcase meeting.
The Henrythenavigator three-year-old gelding was coming off three minor placings at Newcastle, Cessnock and Kempsey before breaking through for the win at start number eight.
Dead Reckoning scored by one length in the opening event over the 1000 metres trip.
Its first run for the Sylvester stable was at Taree on January 5.
Meanwhile, Todd Howlett who trains out of Cessnock is on his way to the final of the rich Country Championships at Randwick on April 1 after tough gelding Nic’s Vendetta went under by the barest possible margin in the Country Championships Qualifier at Scone on Sunday.
