ALL roads in the Hunter and North West Racing Association lead to Scone on Sunday after a short detour through to Armidale on Saturday on what is almost a half a million prizemoney weekend in the local HNWRA.

Scone will host the HNWRA Qualifier, fifth heat in the rich Country Championship Series, on Sunday when the Scone Race Club will distribute $310,000 in prizemoney, courtesy of a $150,000 CC Qualifier, a $40,000 Showcase Maiden and six support Showcase races worth $30,000.

On Saturday, the Armidale Jockey Club stages its annual Guyra Cup meeting, the highlight being a $40,000 Guyra Cup (1400m) with six support races of $20,000 including an Armidale Cup Prelude.

That’s a grand total of $470,000 for the two days, a marvellous cash injection for HNWRA owners and trainers and almost certainly the wealthiest racing weekend in the HNWRA’s history.

The prizemoney bonanza isn’t the only blowout.
